Become a Volunteer
Volunteers are an essential part of the hospice team, filling various roles that range from direct patient care to administrative support for the organization. Many have had an experience with hospice and want to give back, some strongly believe in hospice care and want to help others. Volunteers share a strong belief in kindness and compassion and are all committed to comfort and quality for every individual at the end-of-life. Hospices that participate with Medicare are required to utilize volunteers alongside their paid clinical and administrative staff. Hospice volunteers can gain great personal satisfaction from knowing they have made a difference in another person’s life.
Examples of volunteer duties are:
-
- Caregiver relief
- Being a comforting and supportive presence
- Administrative and clerical duties
- Running errands or doing light housekeeping
- Community outreach
